The charter, the project for the territory
Each regional nature Park is labelled for 10 years contingent on its territory project: the charter.
The Parc du Pilat charter
The Parc du Pilat charter determines the objectives to be achieved over the course of a decade and the actions to be taken in order to protect the massif while creating conditions for sustainable economic development.
Together, the local elected officials and the people involved from Pilat defined the parameters of this charter and then adopted it.
It represents more than just a policy statement; approved by all, it guides the actions that are taken for the Park through the combined efforts of the public and private entities involved: the Rhône-Alps region, the 47 communes of Pilat, the 16 gateway towns, the 2 departments, and also the associations, federations, local chamber...
The State is guarantor of the commitments made in the charter.
Thus, everyone from city councillor to the Minister is working towards the same goal of ensuring a preserved and vibrant Pilat. Revised for the second time since its inception, the current Park Charter will govern Pilat until 2011.
The Park’s Syndicat Mixte has no particular authority in implementing this project; the project is possible thanks to the commitment of everyone involved in the carrying out of this charter.
