Pilat owes its interesting biodiversity to its location at a bio-climatic crossroads. The massif is the meeting point for the Mediterranean, oceanic and continental climates thus providing it with exceptionally diverse natural environments concentrated in a small area!
Pilat, study ground for naturalists
The coexistence of Mediterranean-influenced natural areas in the ravines, Alpine areas on the summits and Atlantic-influenced areas in the north have made a name for Pilat among botanists. You will find species together here in a few square kilometres that you would have to go to the far corners of France to find.
